Montrose Befriending Service

Connect – Create – Collaborate

What do we do?

Do we provide any other services?

Our main mission is to facilitate Befriending friendships between volunteers and vulnerable or lonely people within the community of Montrose and the surrounding areas.

We also have a shop operating out of our premises selling recycled Craft materials It’s a welcoming space, where service users, volunteers and the public can interact, reducing loneliness. There are volunteering opportunities where people supported by the befriending service can gain confidence, new skills, and a sense of purpose by helping in the shop.

We run a number of groups at No.32 which people are encouraged to attend if they are on our waiting list for a befriender, some people are referred to our groups others simply come along. The various groups are; The Craft group, Games Group and two Coffee Groups. We also host a tea and toast group at Provost Johnston Supported Housing Complex.

Being part of a group matters whether it’s gamers, crafters or book lovers, shared interests create a sense of identity and belonging. For people who have been isolated for a long time, these groups offer a gradual way to rebuild confidence.
