Montrose Befriending Service

Connect – Create – Collaborate

About Us

Founded in 2023, Montrose Befriending Service is a small charity set up to help address the problems of social isolation and loneliness within the Montrose area.

Our main aim is to help to improve the quality of life for adults experiencing social challenges in their lives, be it due to personal loss, ageing or disability.

Who are we?

The Montrose Befriending Scheme is managed by three part time paid staff alongside a dedicated group of volunteer Trustees.

We also have a Steering Group who meet bi-weekly to help shape the day to day running of our centre, any activities and events planned and ways in which we can continue to grow and strengthen.

Invaluable to keeping things running, however, is our amazing team of Befrienders, shop volunteers and other helping hands.

Mission Statement

Our mission is to break the cycle of loneliness by bringing people together through shared experiences, support and connections.

We create safe and inclusive environments where everyone feels valued, encouraged to talk and supported in learning new skills. By doing things together, we help build confidence, spark friendships and give people a reason to get out and get involved.

Our staff and volunteers work closely and with care to include everyone, making sure no one is left out.

We believe in the power of community – all of us working together to make life better, one conversation and one connection at a time’.
